What a heartfelt, personal tribute to your friend, Phil Aaberg, Monica. You have a heart to match his sensitivities and I've always loved that about you. I used to play his music in my computer headset in various Denver Starbucks while trying to knock out some thinking and writing. His music is the spaciousness of Montana I needed to wipe away the busy energy of the coffee shop and the city I had just moved to. I'm sad hearing that he has passed, and oh so grateful for his music and reading this tribute. How moving to hear of your time holding your mother's hand soaking in Simple Gifts. (Definitely what I'll have played at my memorial service). I'm back in MIssoula now for the last ten years and you've reminded me to play Phillip's music today while I work on some musings and scheduling. Thanks for reminding me I can always listen to his music and open up my rib cage and feel the prairie breezes and my heart.
